Right now at this moment I am doing something that I have not done in many years: watching Sunday morning political talk shows.
And I am shaking my head in disbelief at how little these people are actually saying.
These are partisan hacks, every single one of them, including the hosts. They are not saying anything at all that is really enlightening or mind-broadening. They are parroting their party’s agenda, without any legitimate thought processes at all. There is nothing original they are speaking aloud that I have not heard before.
They are soooooo boring.
I'm reminded of an episode of The Cosby Show that I saw many years ago. Claire is invited to go on one such Sunday morning show. Including the hosts there is also a conservative commentator and a liberal scholar and they were PERFECTLY cast and acted. They were total parodies of real conservatives and liberals. Claire is the only one at the table who is acting like a mature intelligent adult. She's smart. She comes knowing what she believes and she runs circles around everyone else. It was a hilarious episode. And even as a kid watching it, I wanted to be like Claire if it ever came to me being in a situation like that also.
These real-life political shows couldn't handle someone like Claire Huxtable. They can't handle ANYONE who really thinks for themself.
I actually feel dumber for watching these shows. I'm tuning off. There's the live stream of a church I really appreciate that is starting in a few minutes (it's the church I attended when I was in college). MUCH more uplifting and thought provoking than Meet The Press or any other of these programs.

Which show was it? I know after hour three of both fox "news" and msdnc, I want to take a baseball bat to my TV. The worst part is each show repeats the same "news" and just changes the wording slightly and thinks the populace is dumb enough to think its BREAKING NEWS!!!!! Fox news is terrible with the BREAKING NEWS alerts, I don't even flinch anymore when I hear it because it is so over used. One of the best things I ever did was stop watching the news (besides the weather), I am WAY happier now. It's all just a bunch of rich snobs that think you aren't smart enough to form an opinion without their say, (yes even the anchors on your side person who is reading this comment). These "people" push their hatred and the masses eat it up, I personally know people who watch Fox news for 8+ hours a day and they are miserable, constantly thinking someone is going to jump out of their bushes and murder them because the TV told them everyone is a killer. I can assume it's that bad for the liberals as well. Good job turning off the propaganda slop Chris, I wish more people would have this realization and live their lives.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I would watch those before church. I thought I was broadening my mind. Dad then told me that those people weren’t saying anything new and special, and he was right. I used to watch 60 Minutes too but it became too much liberal. Forget going back to Reidsville to take over its TV station you need to take over CBS :)
