Fast reaction to LOST Season 5 premiere

HOLY $%&@!!!

This show has come completely off the chain!

That was season finale-quality material.

Good safety tip we learned tonight: never, ever put knives in the automatic dishwasher with the blade pointing up. Unless, you know, you need them like that to kill intruders.

How convenient that Ben has a lady on his side who owns a butcher shop with a nice, big refrigerator :-P

Anyone else think the part where Hurley broke down and started pouring his heart out about what really happened, was one of the all-time classic Lost scenes?

Okay, that last scene of the episode: the whole theme of "science versus faith", instead of a dichotomy, that seemed to be a convergence of the two. Desmond's mysterious "time lady" is a monk doing equations dealing with space/time in a church. I can't put my finger on quite what it is, but that one scene, I'd be willing to wager, perfectly set the tone for what we should expect from this season.

Just... wow. I'm gonna have to watch that again.

It was the first two episodes of the season in one night. The first was "Because You Left" and the second hour was "The Lie". And yes it was very good :)

in a previous episode where desmond is talking to the head monk guy and is being kicked out of the monistary there is a quick shot of the head monk guy with that creepy old lady that was selling desmond his engagement ring and then showed up again at the end of the new episode. i know, weird i noticed but any thoughts would be nice

Here is a crazy theory. I think the ring lady Mrs. Hawking & the Monk are Fariday's parents!

Not so crazy Geoff: I was thinking the same thing :-)

I just wonder how bad Hurley's crazy action (even though he's NOT crazy) is going to throw a monkeywrench into Ben's plans. We'll probably see Widmore doing something with high-priced lawyers to get Hurley out of the pokey, then kidnaps him and makes Ben and Jack have to go rescue him. That's my hunch.

Those men who attacked the Oceanic survivors, did they look to you like they were wearing American army uniforms from World War II era?

Calvin that's what it looked like to me WWII era.

Definitly WWII or early 50's , before the switched to camo.. but Im wondering if they were British soldiers or possible Aussie? What if a young Widmore is part of that group? They did say "our island" and he has referred to the island as his, and the age would be close

Remember back when Analucia was still alive... she had an army knife that she pulled of Goodwyn... I can't remember if it's in the actual episode or some special features I watched on DVD... but it points out that it is a US Army knife, and it was old... they were contemplating how it got on the island! Perhaps it is from WWII ?!?!?!!! The pieces are slowly coming together...

VERY good observation! I hadn't even thought of that :-)

I did catch that Candle/Chang was shooting the orientation film for the Arrow. Maybe we'll find out how that hollowed-out Bible with the film and the glass eye got there? That's been one mystery that's always nagged on my mind.
