Another memory: Breaking Bad in Albuquerque

"But finally I arrived at the world famous ALBUQUERQUE HOLIDAY INN!!!"
Yesterday my Facebook suggested sharing a memory from ten years ago. It's almost incomprehensible that it's been that long since this photo was taken. But I was on a respite from blogging for awhile as Tammy the Pup and I crossed America. So now I'm sharing a few photos from the journey that I hadn't before.
On the evening of August 17th 2016 we arrived in Albuquerque, New Mexico. And the very first thing we did when we got there was to look for the Holiday Inn, just as "Weird Al" Yankovic sang about in his long song "Albuquerque"...
"Where the towels are oh so fluffy! And you can eat your soup right out of the ashtrays if you wanna. It's okay they're clean!"
(Interestingly, there were a few places there where the air did smell like warm root beer!)
I might post a few more pics from the New Mexico stage of our adventure soon.

Eighty years ago today: A false sun over Trinity
Eighty years ago today, in the early morning at a place called Trinity in the desert outside Alamagordo in the New Mexico desert, a new star arose from the landscape.
It was not a natural phenomenon. This unprecedented display of light and heat, brighter than two suns as one observer said, was a thing engineered by the minds of men. It was seen for hundreds of miles in every direction.
"I am become death, destroyer of worlds," project lead Robert Oppenheimer uttered when he beheld the culmination of years of research. Physicist Kenneth Bainbridge perhaps summed it up better: "Now we are all sons of bitches."
Man had at last seized the power of God in the palm of his hand. The atomic age was upon us. And nothing would ever be the same again...

Les Misérables: Man arrested trading McDonald's meal for sex
Police: New Mexico man traded McDonalds for sex
This happy meal didn’t end with a treat.
A New Mexico man was arrested for allegedly trading a sex with a woman for a meal at McDonalds.
Albuquerque police found Donald Jones, 58, at Bullhead Park with a woman he picked up near Central and Virginia.
According to the criminal complaint, Jones picked up the woman in an area known for prostitution. Police watched Jones order food at a McDonald’s drive thru window and head to a nearby park.
On their way to the park Jones told police he purchased the woman food and asked how she would reimburse him, the criminal complaint states.
Police confronted the pair at the park and saw the woman pulling up her pants in the car.I bet he could have scored an entire brothel if they had brought back the McRib!
Wendy's should pounce on this and bring back a classic ad campaign...
