Santelli is right: Time to show the American government who's boss

It's become "The Rant Heard 'Round the World": CNBC's Rick Santelli on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange two days ago, blasting President Obama's mortgage bailout plans and calling for a new "tea party"...

Santelli's impromptu screed alarmed the Obama Administration enough that Press Secretary Robert Gibbs attacked Santelli during the daily White House press briefing yesterday.

Most of y'all who read this blog on a regular basis know what I'm gonna say already: that Rick Santelli is absolutely correct. That the American government is rewarding "bad behavior" and consequently is punishing those who are striving to play fairly by the rules.

At every level, government in the United States is out of control. It has "gone rogue". Our government is no longer of the people, by the people and for the people. It is now an entity unto itself, existing for its own sake, and proven willing to do whatever it deems necessary to maintain its tenuous grasp on the status quo.

This can not go on forever. Sooner or later, it will come crashing down. History is replete with examples of ruined empires that buckled and gave in under their own weight. And at this point, I don't know if it can be avoided, that the United States is on the same track.

But that's why I also find Rick Santelli's rage to be so heartening. Santelli demonstrated sincere vigor and rage at what is happening to this country. His sentiments have resonated so strongly across the blogosphere, that it's not hard at all to see a real movement coalescing around this fury at our government.

Heck, if you ask me, Rick Santelli is showing more real leadership than anyone in the Obama Administration right now. That by itself is reason to be of good cheer! :-)

I would love to see Rick Santelli debate ANYONE the Obama Gestapo (sorry,I meant to say "TEAM")puts up on the debate of finances & TRUE ways to stimulate the economy.Rick Santelli has something in common with the "political professionals",which SHOULD;I think;give him credibility in their eyes:he advises multitudes on the handling of large amounts of money...of course,he vastly differs from the "Obama team" in one big aspect:he stands among his peers;who are qualified professionals; & is held accountable for HIS advise.I know this for a fact:Mr. Santelli would absolutely SHRED ANY member of "Team Obama" in a debate with something that really matters:facts & experience! God Bless you (& protect you) Rick Santelli! YOU,Sir, ARE a REAL American patriot & I applaud you for your timely use of your media time.Palin/Santelli in 2012? Maybe NOW it's an idea who's time has come....& THAT would be a true "change I could believe in'!!!

"This can not go on forever. Sooner or later, it will come crashing down. History is replete with examples of ruined empires that buckled and gave in under their own weight." - Christopher Knight

Hmmm...buckled under their own weight? You mean the weight applied after eight years of tax cuts for the upper-class, while the middle and lower-class (you know, those who were crushed by falling skyscrapers or drowned due to faulty levees) were told to wait for their "trickle down"? After record budget proposals that slashed science R&D and domestic/social programs in favor of lavishing the oil companies and the industrial military complex? After invading/occupying/rebuilding two overseas countries (one of them wrongly), the money with which to do so having been borrowed from communist China? After our troops were spread so thin and sent away for too long with inadequate pay/benefits for the futility of fighting the ephemeral "war on terror", leaving our homeland and its borders poorly secured and our interests less safe globally? After plunging us into the worst recession in decades (and denying the recession was real, instead slapping a band-aid solution of a rebate check on the problem), setting a record deficit and running up an enormous debt for no benefit to this country (that's what's truly known as generational theft...took the conservative talking heads to realize such a thing exists, yet they've still got the definition wrong)? After the Bush administration got so cocky that it honestly believed that things like the Geneva Conventions or habeas corpus were not only obstacles to their "ends justify the means" approach, but that they were easily removed obstacles? OF COURSE you don't mention such "bad behavior" that Bush allowed and condoned the past eight years. And OF COURSE neither does the Bush voting, Conservative, capitalist, derivative stock trader Rick Santelli. There was no "sincere vigor and rage at what is happening to this country" for eight whole years from Rick. Nope. The past eight years? What happened then? Certainly nothing! No doubt Rick can tell you EXACTLY the date that all this mess started happening on: January 20, 2009. Before then, everything was roses! Rick didn't even make a peep while his tax dollars were being used to bomb/occupy/rebuild Iraq (yay nation building!) at a cost FAR exceeding that of the Stimulus Bill, which *gasp* is being spent ON OUR OWN COUNTRY! NOOOOOOOOO! Anything but that, you socialist hippies! This is America! Raar Raar Raar RAAR RANT!

Can you say "biased manufactured outrage"? Very good!

Chris, not sure if you have ever heard of Mike Church, but look up his website. Google search for the Mike Church show. He is a strict constitutionalist talk show host, comes up with some pretty funny stuff, but his observations are dead on about the deterioration of our freedoms and government overall. He had this rant on his show yesterday and was spot on in his analysis of it.

You will probably like the parody of the Obama "change" poster, featuring Thomas Jefferson. Good stuff.

I think our country has been on this downward slide for years, since the Clinton years, only that sliding board is getting steeper and lots faster. Ugh.
