Praise from a peculiarly-placed demographic

So, I've never watched AMC's series Breaking Bad.

Okay, I take that back.  I've watched half of one episode, and it looked pretty good.  Made me want to see more of it.  Everyone who I've mentioned to has raved about this show.  Has told me "Chris what the %&@$ is wrong with you, this is the best series ever!!" or words to that effect.

Someday, sooner than later (it'll have to wait until at least after the book is finished) I plan to watch Breaking Bad from start to finish, and find out what all the commotion is about.

In the meantime...

Last week was the premiere of the spinoff series Better Call Saul.  There've been three episodes thus far.

And without knowing anything else about this particular fictional universe, other than Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk's character) is a shyster lawyer, I have to say... that I am hooked.

If Better Call Saul is this good already, then I can barely imagine how good Breaking Bad must be.

I'll give Better Call Saul a pretty strong recommendation.  Not my highest, because it's still too early.  But I'm very optimistic that this series is going to go far and be consistently strong for the whole ride through.

You haven't watched Breaking Bad. You. You Chris.

What. The Hell. Is. Wrong. With. You.

Breaking Bad IS the best TV show ever. Better than Walking Dead, Lost, Twin Peaks, anything.

Buy the bluray complete series when you finish writing your book. And get ready to have your ass blown away.

I'm very picky about what I watch. VERY picky. A show has to be SERIOUSLY good for me to invest my valuable time toward watching it.

That you mentioned Twin Peaks well... that arouses my curiosity ever more so. Because in my mind there are three shows which for their own reasons are the best that TV has ever produced: Doctor Who, The Walking Dead, and Twin Peaks.

Mentioning The Walking Dead is understandable. But you didn't stop. You went *there*. You said that Breaking Bad was better than Twin Peaks.

Have you any idea what you are saying? Huh? Have you? Because, well... that's saying something. You're saying that Breaking Bad is not just a television series. That it's much more than that.

You had to say it was better than Twin Peaks of all things.

Guess I know what I really will have to do after finishing the book.

In regard to Better Call Saul: I know nothing about the kind of person he is in Breaking Bad but the character of Saul is really engrossing and has me wanting more. I suppose there is a reason we will come to discover why Jimmy McGill eventually becomes Saul Goodman. I'm looking forward to seeing that :-)
